Does Windows Phone 7 appear to be a good platform for smart phones?

With the popularity of android devices and the proven nature of apple, does windows phone 7 appear to be able to compete with the current market trends, or will it continue to be another version of windows letdown? After having a 6.1 and a 6.5 device I do know for sure that there will need to be some significant changes to make windows phone 7 good.|||I don't think Microsoft "gets" cell phones. Take their ad campaign. Who ever said that smart phone owners want to spend less time on their phones? That's what the phone promises to allow.

Also, Microsoft knows the competition. If they can't release a competitive phone right out of the gate, why would anyone trust them to come out with timely upgrades? Given what happened with the Kin, why would anyone trust the new phones to even be around in 3 months?|||I would have to disagree. I have a friend with a new iPhone and we tested with my new windows phone. My window phone beat it at 60% of it task. It only beat the w7 40% of the time. The w7 will do everything the iPhone will do. I like the window 7 phone a lot more then the iPhone.

|||Well the current WP 7 OS can't compete with iOS and Android OS at all. However, Microsoft has promised to release the next OS version with many must-have features like Multitasking, Copy-Paste etc etc and if it happens and the company keep bringing innovation in upcoming firmware versions, it might compete with others. But it seems very difficult.|||Yes, we got one yesterday, it's AWESOME!!!!! Had an iPhone before.. It's quite peppy and once there's more apps it'll probably overtake the iPhone IMHO.
